The department of education (DfE) have recently introduced a baseline design project which will provide a framework and design details for a number of schools with natural ventilation being the preferred option due to health and economic benefits.
The guidance helps with good practice design for the priority schools building programme (PSBP) and is detailed to enable environment modelling and to establish building costs, with natural ventilation being the preferred option.
The new guidelines show how they can benefit schools in lowering capital costs, improve comfort conditions and reduce energy costs.
Our units have also been designed to enable retrofitting into any existing space, meaning they can be used in existing building and schools.
In reaction to this, TEK Ltd have innovated a new design in collaboration with Velux to develop a natural ventilation unit complete with Velux longlight ©
The concept uses Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to allow for design replication and repetition which is intended to create ease of design for future projects and create optimal environmental conditions for learning.
The unique features include:
U value 0.741w/m²k
Lt value 44 %
Air permeability 0.79m³/h/pm²
G glazing 0.24w/m²k velux longlight
Our units have also been designed to enable retrofitting into any existing space, meaning they can be used in existing building and schools.
